Stephen Williams MP said:

“I am delighted to be opening these two refurbished Post Offices. Liberal Democrats are securing the future of the Post Office in Government and are 100% behind the commitment that there will be no closure programme. We are providing £1.34 billion over the course of this Parliament to achieve this.

“Both branches now have open-plan counters and larger screened counters with microphone amplification, which make it far easier for staff and customers to communicate. Post Offices are vital to the community and I’m sure these changes, including new improved offices, longer opening hours and Car Tax renewal service added, will be warmly welcomed by all of my constituents.”

Laura Tarling, Post Office Senior Stakeholder Manager, said:

“We understand how important having a Post Office is to residents around Mina Road and Cotham Hill and I am confident that these new modern Post Offices will meet the needs of their local communities and secure services for the future. These examples of modernisation are part of a major investment programme to convert the Post Office network to new-style branches. This investment, the largest in the history of the Post Office, makes a commitment to no more branch closure programmes.”
